Tensions flared once again in the Gulf of Oman after Iran claimed it had intercepted a U.S. Navy destroyer in the strategic waterway—a claim swiftly denied by the U.S. military. According to American officials, an Iranian military helicopter briefly approached the U.S. vessel but quickly retreated after receiving a radio warning.

The incident unfolded amid growing maritime friction in the region, with Iran asserting that its forces had conducted a successful intercept operation. However, U.S. Navy officials described the claim as false, stating that the destroyer remained on course and unimpeded throughout the encounter.
