North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has publicly paid tribute to North Korean soldiers who reportedly died while fighting alongside Russian forces in the ongoing war in Ukraine. The rare acknowledgment underscores Pyongyang’s growing alignment with Moscow as geopolitical tensions intensify across the globe.

In a solemn ceremony held in the capital, Kim expressed gratitude and respect for the fallen soldiers, calling their sacrifice a symbol of “heroic international solidarity.” State media highlighted the tribute as a demonstration of North Korea’s commitment to what it described as a “just and sovereign battle” against Western influence.
