Tensions flared in Istanbul as clashes broke out between protesters and local police following the detention of Ekrem Imamoglu, the former mayor of Turkey’s largest city. Demonstrators flooded the streets demanding Imamoglu’s immediate release, sparking a wave of unrest that has drawn national and international attention.
