Tensions flared at Cairo International Airport this week as Egyptian authorities refused entry to a group of Algerian nationals who had arrived to join the Gaza Steadfastness Convoy.
The convoy, part of a growing international effort to express solidarity with Palestinians amid ongoing conflict in Gaza, had drawn activists and supporters from across the region.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts, Algerian citizens were denied entry without clear explanation. Frustration erupted among other international participants as well.

One Turkish national at the airport voiced anger over the situation, stating, “It’s not the Israeli occupation army, it’s the Egyptian army that’s expelling us. History will record it.”
The move by Egyptian authorities has sparked controversy, particularly among supporters of the Gaza cause, many of whom see Egypt as a key regional actor in either facilitating or hindering humanitarian and civil solidarity efforts.
Critics argue that blocking peaceful supporters undermines regional unity and further isolates those suffering in Gaza.
