Paris Saint-Germain made history on Saturday night, lifting their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy with a dominant and unforgettable 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan.

The final, played in Munich, will be remembered as one of the most lopsided in the competition’s 70-year history, as Luis Enrique’s young and electrifying PSG side overwhelmed a sluggish Inter team from start to finish.

The French champions wasted no time asserting their dominance. Former Inter player Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring early, and it was the beginning of a relentless onslaught.

Teenage sensation Désiré Doué, who turns 20 next week, was the star of the night. After assisting the opener, he doubled PSG’s lead in the 20th minute with a deflected strike and later added his second just after the hour mark, effectively sealing the win.

There was no let-up from the Parisians. Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ran through Inter’s defense to make it 4-0 before substitute Senny Mayulu added a fifth in the dying moments. It was the largest margin of victory ever recorded in a Champions League final and a devastating blow to an Inter Milan side that never got out of first gear.

PSG’s triumph marks the culmination of more than a decade of Qatari investment, strategy, and evolution. After falling short in their only previous final appearance in 2020 against Bayern Munich, this victory serves as a defining moment in the club’s modern era.

The win also secures a historic treble for PSG, who had already claimed the Ligue 1 and French Cup titles earlier in the season.

This victory also cements Luis Enrique’s legacy, making him a two-time Champions League-winning manager—his first triumph coming with Barcelona in 2015.

Under his guidance, PSG has transitioned into a balanced and cohesive unit, moving away from their previous overreliance on superstar power. The departure of Kylian Mbappé earlier in the season marked a new era, and this youthful, high-octane squad looks built to dominate European football for years to come.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, were left reeling. Still chasing their first Champions League title since 2010, Simone Inzaghi’s men were second-best in every department. This loss marks their second final defeat in three seasons, capping off a disappointing campaign in which they also missed out on the Serie A title to Napoli. With an ageing squad and no silverware to show, a rebuild now seems inevitable for the Nerazzurri.

As PSG celebrate their crowning glory, Europe takes notice: a new giant has truly arrived, and their reign may just be beginning.
