It looks like the transfer saga surrounding Vinicius Jr. is finally drawing to a close. According to Cadena SER, the Brazilian forward is expected to commit his future to Spain by signing a new three- or four-year deal—putting an end to growing speculation about a potential blockbuster move to the Middle East.

For months, Vinicius had been weighing his options. The Saudi Pro League reportedly tabled a jaw-dropping offer: a five-year contract worth €1 billion, including a €300 million transfer fee.

However, sources suggest that Vinicius was hesitant to commit to such a long-term deal, especially with Saudi clubs unwilling to settle for a shorter arrangement.

Talks between his representatives and Saudi officials began as early as September, continued through December, and resumed in Prague this February. Despite being intrigued by the financial scale of the offer, Vinicius held off on making a decision—partly due to unresolved concerns at his current club.

The 23-year-old, who finished second in last year’s Ballon d’Or voting, believes he deserves to be on equal footing with Real Madrid teammates Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham when it comes to wages. His contract renewal has been under negotiation with that in mind, and a final agreement now seems imminent.

On the pitch, Real Madrid have little time for distractions. They face Deportivo Alavés in La Liga this Sunday, with hopes of narrowing the gap to league leaders Barcelona to just four points. Then comes an uphill battle in Europe—next Wednesday, they host Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final second leg, trailing 3-0 on aggregate.
