Tottenham Seal Deal for Kevin Danso

Tottenham Hotspur have bolstered their defense with the signing of Kevin Danso from Ligue 1 side RC Lens on loan until the end of the season. The deal includes an obligation to buy in the summer, ensuring the Austria international will remain a permanent fixture at the club beyond this campaign.

Spurs had been actively searching for defensive reinforcements after failing to land Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel and AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori. Wolves were also in the race for Danso’s signature, but Tottenham moved swiftly to get the deal over the line.

With Cristian Romero still sidelined and Radu Dragusin picking up a fresh injury, Danso’s arrival comes at a crucial time for manager Ange Postecoglou, who has been navigating a thin defensive lineup.

Danso, who stands 6ft 3in, began his footballing journey in England, spending time in Reading’s and MK Dons’ academies before moving to FC Augsburg’s youth system in 2014.

He later broke into Augsburg’s first team, gaining experience with loan spells at Southampton and Fortuna Düsseldorf, before establishing himself as a key player at Lens since 2021.

Tottenham fans may not have to wait long to see their new signing in action. While he won’t be available for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Brentford, he could feature in Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Liverpool—provided his work permit is processed in time.

With Spurs battling for a top-four finish and still in contention for silverware, Danso’s addition could prove to be a vital piece of the puzzle in the coming months.
