The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary ban on all songs by Burna Boy, following a reported physical confrontation involving the artist and DJ Tunez in Lagos.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday night at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats gathering known for attracting top names in the Nigerian music scene. What initially began as a heated exchange between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez allegedly escalated into a physical altercation. Witnesses claim that members of Burna Boy’s entourage became involved before bystanders stepped in to de-escalate the situation.
While the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, speculation has quickly spread across social media. Some observers suggest the clash may be linked to long-standing industry tensions, particularly DJ Tunez’s close working relationship with Wizkid—a frequent point of comparison in fan debates involving Burna Boy.
In response, the Nigerian DJ Association released a detailed statement condemning all forms of hostility and discrimination within the entertainment industry.

The organization emphasized the need for unity, respect, and equal treatment among DJs, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora. It reiterated its commitment to protecting its members and ensuring that fairness and dignity remain central to the profession.
As part of its decision, the association confirmed that Burna Boy’s music will be removed from DJs’ playlists across its network until further notice. The NDJ also stated that it will conduct a full investigation into the incident involving DJ Tunez before making any long-term decisions.

The move has sparked conversations across the music industry, with fans and stakeholders closely watching how the situation unfolds. Burna Boy, one of Africa’s most influential global artists, has yet to publicly respond to the development.
For now, the ban underscores the NDJ’s stance on accountability and its effort to maintain professionalism within Nigeria’s vibrant DJ community, even as tensions occasionally flare in the high-energy world of Afrobeats entertainment.
