Nigerian Afrobeats singer Alexander Adelabu, popularly known as Magixx, is mourning the death of his mother, Esther.
The Mavin Records artiste announced the heartbreaking news on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in an emotional tribute shared on social media. He described her passing as one of the most painful experiences of his life, admitting that he was struggling to accept that she was gone.
In his tribute, the singer revealed that his mother had spent the past six years battling illness while continuing to show strength and support for her family, friends and others around her.
Magixx remembered her as a woman who remained cheerful and full of life despite her health struggles. He also described her as free-spirited, witty and kind, saying her personality naturally drew people to her.
The singer spoke deeply about the bond they shared, describing his mother as his “reason,” “guardian,” “twin” and “everything.” He said words were failing him as he tried to process the loss, adding that he would miss her deeply.
The details of Esther’s illness have not been fully disclosed, but Magixx indicated that she had been dealing with health challenges for about six years.
The singer had previously spoken about his mother’s health struggles, and her condition reportedly influenced his 2024 song “Okay,” which he described as an outlet for expressing the pain of watching someone he loved battle illness.
Now, the 26-year-old artiste is facing the loss of one of the people he considered central to his life and musical journey.
Fans and colleagues have since taken to social media to express their condolences and offer support to the singer during this difficult period.
May her soul rest in peace.
