The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch B Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States due to ongoing renovation work at the designated orientation camps.
The orientation exercise, which was originally scheduled to begin earlier, will now commence on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, according to the latest announcement from the NYSC management.
The scheme explained that the adjustment was necessary because the state governments in Sokoto and Niger are still carrying out renovation work at the two orientation camps.
Under the revised schedule, the cut-off and swearing-in ceremony for the prospective corps members will take place on Friday, August 14, while the orientation course is scheduled to end with a closing ceremony on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
In its announcement, the NYSC management asked prospective corps members posted to Sokoto and Niger to take the revised date into account when making their travel arrangements.
The scheme also issued a safety warning, urging prospective corps members to avoid travelling to their orientation camps at night.
The NYSC advised them to plan their journeys carefully and prioritise their safety while making their way to the camps.
The postponement is specifically applicable to prospective corps members posted to Sokoto and Niger States, where renovation work is currently being carried out. Other states are not affected by the announcement unless separately communicated by the NYSC.
The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, also wished all prospective corps members safe journeys as they prepare to begin their orientation programme.
Prospective corps members affected by the adjustment are encouraged to monitor official NYSC communication and make their travel plans based on the revised schedule as preparations for the 2026 Batch B Stream II orientation exercise continue.
