President Bola Tinubu experienced a brief stumble on Tuesday while participating in a ceremonial march-past during his official reception in Türkiye, drawing momentary attention before the event continued smoothly.
The incident occurred as President Tinubu joined the guard of honour, walking alongside his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Video footage shared on X by Turkish digital news platform Nefes Gazetesi shows Tinubu faltering momentarily before being swiftly assisted to his feet by the Secret Service. Despite the minor disruption, the programme proceeded without any significant interruption.
Tinubu’s visit to Türkiye is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the country, with a focus on trade, investment, security, and regional cooperation. During the visit, he is expected to hold high-level talks with President Erdoğan and participate in the signing of several memoranda of understanding, alongside other official engagements.
The stumble, while drawing brief attention, did not affect the president’s schedule or the planned diplomatic activities, underscoring the smooth continuation of the ceremonial proceedings.
The visit reflects Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to expand international partnerships, with Türkiye emerging as a key partner in economic collaboration and strategic regional initiatives.
