José Mourinho Breaks Silence on Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United Sacking

José Mourinho has shared a measured and reflective response to the sacking of Rúben Amorim as Manchester United manager, drawing on his own experience at Old Trafford while stopping short of direct criticism.

Speaking after Amorim’s dismissal, Mourinho acknowledged that his time at Manchester United remains a significant chapter in his career, one he understands clearly—both in terms of why he arrived and why his tenure eventually ended. He explained that whenever he leaves a club, he prefers to close that chapter completely, allowing both sides to move on.

Mourinho reflected on his own exit from United by pointing to what he achieved during his spell in charge. He noted that the trophies he won at the club remain part of his legacy, adding that the record speaks for itself. For him, closing one door simply creates space for another opportunity, a philosophy he believes has served him well throughout his career.

Turning his attention to Amorim, the former United boss made it clear that the situation belongs to the Portuguese coach alone. Mourinho said only Amorim can truly assess what went wrong, expressing confidence that his compatriot is capable of doing that analysis honestly and thoroughly.

While Mourinho suggested Amorim would naturally reflect on his experience, he added that whether the former United manager chooses to share his version of events publicly is entirely up to him.

Mourinho’s comments strike a calm and empathetic tone, offering perspective rather than judgment, and highlighting the realities of managing one of the world’s most demanding football clubs.
