The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have released dramatic footage showing the moment Duvdevan unit commandos killed Sultan al-Ghani, the Palestinian terrorist responsible for murdering Israeli security guard Gidon Peri at the Bar-On industrial park last year.

According to the IDF, al-Ghani was located and killed on Tuesday morning during a firefight after troops surrounded the building where he was hiding south of Jenin. The operation followed an overnight joint effort by IDF forces and Shin Bet officers, during which five suspected accomplices were arrested.

Al-Ghani carried out the deadly attack on August 18, 2024. Armed with a hammer, he struck 38-year-old Peri in the head while the guard was on duty at the industrial park near Kedumim. The attacker then stole Peri’s handgun and fled the scene. Peri was rushed to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva in critical condition but later died of his injuries.

During Tuesday’s operation, IDF commandos engaged al-Ghani in an exchange of fire, killing him on the spot. A subsequent search of the building uncovered multiple firearms, ammunition and an explosive device, according to military officials.

The IDF praised the operation as a significant counterterror achievement and reaffirmed its commitment to bringing to justice all those involved in attacks on Israeli civilians and security personnel.
