Israel’s national transportation system experienced a major cyber disruption on Wednesday night after hackers—reportedly linked to Arab or Iranian groups—breached digital passenger-information screens at multiple bus stations across the country.

The incident, which occurred around 9 p.m., affected several cities including Ashdod and Ramat Gan. According to reports from Ynet and videos circulating on social media, the attackers took control of electronic displays and loudspeakers, broadcasting Arabic music, sharp alarm sounds, and spoken messages in Arabic. The sudden intrusion caused confusion among commuters during the busy evening hours.

Witness videos showed transport screens flickering before switching to unfamiliar audio, with siren-like tones and Arabic dialogue echoing through bus stops. Commuters were seen looking around in alarm as the hacked messages played through the public announcement systems.

Israel’s Transportation Ministry confirmed that it is investigating the source of the disruption, describing it as a likely cyber incident. Officials noted that service was restored within minutes, with the digital displays returning to normal operations soon after the intrusion.

The attack highlights growing concerns about cyber vulnerabilities in public infrastructure, particularly amid heightened regional tensions. Authorities have not yet officially attributed the attack to any group, but initial reports point toward Arab or Iranian hacker involvement.
