Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed confidence in his squad depth as the club prepares for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will see several key players depart for international duty.
Speaking about the expected impact on his team, Amorim noted that the club has been preparing for this moment and stressed the importance of relying on academy talent to fill the gaps left by departing stars such as Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo, and Noussair Mazraoui.
“We will try to keep the players a little longer,” Amorim said, acknowledging the inevitable disruption AFCON brings each season. “Our academy is for this moment, and we’ll be ready.”
The manager emphasized that the club’s long-term development strategy ensures they have young players capable of stepping up when needed. With AFCON likely to sideline multiple first-team regulars, those academy prospects are expected to play a significant role in maintaining squad balance and continuity.
