Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that defender Gabriel Magalhães will be out for “weeks” after suffering an injury while representing Brazil during the international break. The 27-year-old was forced off during Brazil’s victory over Senegal, raising immediate concerns about his fitness ahead of crucial fixtures.

Arteta described Gabriel’s absence as a major setback for the squad, particularly with the North London Derby against Tottenham coming up on Sunday. The centre-back has been a key figure in Arsenal’s defensive setup, making his injury a significant blow as the club continues its push in the Premier League.

“Gabi unfortunately picked up an injury with the national team. He will be out for weeks,” Arteta said during his press briefing. He added that Gabriel is scheduled for another scan next Wednesday, which will provide a clearer timeline for his recovery.

Arsenal will now need to adjust their defensive options as they prepare for a challenging run of matches without one of their most reliable players.
