Prominent Islamic scholar Shaykh Ahmad Gumi has expressed deep concern over the worsening lack of education and economic opportunities facing herdsmen across the country. Speaking on the issue, Gumi warned that prolonged isolation, limited exposure, and continued neglect could have damaging long-term consequences on their wellbeing and behaviour.

According to him, the absence of structured education and stable employment has pushed many herders into a cycle of hardship. He stressed that when individuals are cut off from society and deprived of learning, their development becomes severely stunted.

Gumi illustrated his point with a striking analogy, noting that if a group of young people were placed in isolation with livestock for a year, without any social interaction or educational engagement, they might eventually begin to imitate the behaviour of the animals. He said this underscores how critical exposure, knowledge, and human connection are to personal growth.

He called on government authorities and community leaders to urgently invest in education, skill development, and economic empowerment for herding communities. According to Gumi, addressing these gaps is essential not only for their personal advancement but also for national peace and social stability.
