President Donald Trump welcomed Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the White House on Tuesday in one of the most extravagant receptions granted to any foreign leader this year. The crown prince’s arrival featured a full military display — including a band, a ceremonial horseback procession, and a dramatic flyover by U.S. fighter jets above the White House.
Although the visit was not classified as a formal state visit, the elaborate welcome underscored the significance of the meeting. The crown prince, widely regarded as Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, was greeted by Trump before proceeding to the Oval Office for high-level talks.
The leaders are expected to discuss a major arms agreement, including a potential sale of F-35 fighter jets to the kingdom, as well as negotiations around mineral partnerships and advanced technology deals.
Following their bilateral meeting, Trump and the crown prince will join top officials from both nations for a working lunch. Later in the evening, the White House will host Saudi delegates for a black-tie event, continuing a day of high-stakes diplomacy aimed at strengthening U.S.–Saudi ties and advancing strategic defense and economic agreements.
