A Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor has responded to critics who interpreted Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s recent act of collecting church offerings as a political move ahead of future elections.
In a statement shared with the media, the aide emphasized that “not everything is politics,” describing the governor as a “faithful worshipper” and a man who has always expressed his faith publicly.
“Because you saw my governor collect offering, you claim it’s for re-election. His name is Rt. Elder Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, a faithful worshipper. Peter Obi flies economy; that doesn’t mean it’s politics,” the aide said.
The aide further explained that Governor Oborevwori’s action was born out of genuine devotion, not political calculation, urging Nigerians to separate acts of faith from political interpretations.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who also serves as an Elder in his church, has been known to participate actively in religious gatherings. Supporters say his openness about his Christian faith reflects humility and commitment to service, not campaign strategy.
