In a forceful address, Donald Trump reiterated that the United States would move to disarm Hamas should the group fail to comply voluntarily with the weapons-surrender demands underpinning the Gaza peace plan.
He declared: “If Hamas does not lay down its weapons, we will take away their weapons, and it will happen quickly, and perhaps violently. But they will lay down their weapons, do you understand me?!”
Trump’s comments come at a critical moment in the fragile cease-fire and peace-process framework in the Gaza-Israel conflict. The step signals a sharp escalation in U.S. posture, transitioning from broker to enforcer.
Under his 20-point peace initiative, Hamas has been given a chance to self-disarm and reintegrate, but Trump’s warning emphasises that the patience is limited.
