United States President Donald Trump has released a video statement following Hamas’ response to his proposed Gaza ceasefire and hostage release plan. The development marks a potential turning point in the ongoing conflict after months of failed efforts to secure peace.

Hamas announced that it has agreed to “immediately” enter negotiations for the release of all hostages under Trump’s plan, raising cautious optimism about a breakthrough. In a social media post, Trump expressed confidence, saying he believes Hamas is “ready for a lasting PEACE,” while urging Israel to halt its bombardment of Gaza in order to facilitate hostage extraction.

The U.S. president’s response reportedly caught Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by surprise. According to an Israeli source, Netanyahu was taken aback both by the speed of Trump’s public announcement and the unexpected shift in Hamas’ tone.

In an official statement, Netanyahu confirmed that his government is preparing to “immediately implement” the first phase of the plan, which focuses on the release of Israeli hostages. However, Hamas has stopped short of fully accepting Trump’s proposal without conditions, leaving uncertainty over whether a finalized ceasefire deal will emerge.

While the situation remains delicate, the renewed dialogue signals a potential opening for peace talks, though significant challenges still lie ahead before a lasting truce can be achieved.
