Burna Boy Meets Roger Federer in Zurich, Talks Music Inspirations and GOAT Artists

Global Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy recently shared insights into his musical influences during a meeting with tennis legend Roger Federer in Zurich, Switzerland. The encounter came through a collaboration with ON, the Swiss sportswear brand.

Their conversation naturally shifted to the topic of “GOATs” (Greatest of All Time) in music. When Federer asked Burna Boy about his greatest singers of all time, the Grammy winner immediately pointed to Nigerian Fuji icons, singling out Saheed Osupa as a standout legend.

Reflecting on the albums that shaped his youth, Burna Boy listed Joe’s debut album, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, Tupac’s Makaveli, and “all of Fela’s albums,” which he grew up listening to thanks to his grandfather.

But when Federer pressed him to name the single record that inspired him the most, Burna Boy gave a surprising answer: “Honestly, none,” he admitted.

The candid exchange has since sparked conversation online, with fans praising Burna Boy’s honesty and highlighting the cultural depth of his Fuji and Afrobeat roots.
