The Israeli Air Force launched a series of airstrikes on Thursday evening against Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in southern Lebanon, intensifying its military campaign against the group’s elite Radwan Force.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), at least six depots belonging to the Iranian-backed militant group were destroyed during the strikes. The operation began shortly after the military issued urgent evacuation warnings to residents in several towns, including Mays al-Jabal, Kfar Tebnit, and Dibbin.
Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, cautioned civilians:
“You are located in buildings used by the Hezbollah terrorist group. For your safety, you are required to evacuate these structures and adjacent buildings immediately and stay away from them for a distance of at least 500 meters.”
The targeted depots were reportedly embedded within densely populated neighborhoods, a tactic the IDF accuses Hezbollah of using to shield its military assets behind civilian infrastructure. Videos circulating online showed residential buildings erupting in secondary explosions, suggesting large quantities of hidden weapons.
The Radwan Force, Hezbollah’s elite unit long tasked with implementing its “Conquer the Galilee” strategy, has been attempting to rebuild its arsenal following the loss of senior commanders during Israel’s Operation Northern Arrows in Beirut last September.
In addition to the strikes in Mays al-Jabal, Kfar Tebnit, and Dibbin, the IDF expanded evacuation orders to the towns of Tair Zebna and Borj Qalaouiye, signaling that further operations may follow.
The escalation marks one of the most significant waves of Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon in recent months, raising concerns about broader regional instability.
