Nigerian streamer and content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has sparked reactions online after making a bold statement about Afrobeats queen, Tiwa Savage.
Peller, who is known for his outspoken takes on the Nigerian entertainment industry, claimed that Tiwa Savage’s recently released album failed to gain traction. According to him, the project did not even make it into the Top 100 music charts, despite her global recognition and influence.
“Tiwa Savage released an album and no one listened to it. It didn’t enter top 100. The industry is so evil,” Peller said, criticizing what he described as the “dark side” of the Nigerian music scene.
The comment has since gone viral, stirring debates among music lovers. While some fans agreed with Peller’s assessment of the industry’s politics and gatekeeping, others defended Tiwa Savage, arguing that her influence transcends streaming numbers and chart placements.
Tiwa Savage, often referred to as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” has remained one of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists, with an illustrious career spanning over a decade, international collaborations, and sold-out concerts across the world.
Peller’s remarks, however, have reignited conversations about how the Nigerian music industry treats female artists, especially veterans, compared to their male counterparts.
