Chelsea have completed the signing of Argentine international Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in a transfer worth a reported £40 million ($54 million). The 21-year-old winger has agreed to a seven-year contract with the reigning world champions.

Garnacho was unveiled at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, where he watched his new side defeat Fulham 2-0 to move top of the Premier League.

“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started,” Garnacho said after the move was confirmed. “I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world! It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.”

The highly-rated forward leaves Manchester United after scoring 26 goals in 144 appearances, including a decisive strike in the Red Devils’ 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the 2024 FA Cup final.

Chelsea’s latest signing adds to their growing pool of young talent as they aim to strengthen their title challenge both domestically and in Europe.
