The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has resumed direct revenue collection at the cargo terminals of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, marking a major milestone after a 15-year break.

In a statement signed by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, and shared via the authority’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, August 23, 2025, the agency described the move as a “landmark achievement.”

For the first time in over a decade, FAAN officials from the Directorate of Cargo Development and Services (DCDS) have been deployed to the cargo release points of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) and Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) warehouses. Their presence ensures the real-time collection of accrued cargo charges directly at the terminals.

The resumption of direct revenue collection is expected to boost accountability, enhance transparency in cargo operations, and strengthen FAAN’s financial oversight at Nigeria’s busiest airport.

This development marks a significant shift in airport revenue management and underscores FAAN’s renewed efforts to optimize efficiency within the nation’s aviation sector.
