Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has committed his long-term future to the club after signing a new two-year contract extension, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2029, with an option for a further year.

The 28-year-old Portuguese international, whose previous deal was set to expire in 2027, has been a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola’s side since his £65 million move from Benfica in 2020. Dias immediately made his mark in English football, winning the Premier League Player of the Year award in his debut season and establishing himself as one of the league’s most reliable defenders.

During his five years in Manchester, Dias has played a vital role in City’s dominance, helping the club secure four Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, the EFL Cup, and the FA Cup. His leadership at the back has been instrumental in shaping City’s defensive stability during their era of success.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Dias expressed his joy at extending his stay:
“I am incredibly happy today. Manchester is my home now, and I love the Manchester City fans. When I think about the trophies we have won and the way we have played our football during my time here, I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.”
