The skies over Alaska thundered on Friday as the United States displayed one of its most formidable symbols of military power.

A B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber, flanked by U.S. fighter jets, soared directly above Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump during their high-stakes meeting on the Ukraine conflict at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.

The dramatic flyover, captured in a 22-second viral video, showed both leaders walking side by side on a red carpet toward a waiting stage when the distinctive roar of the aircraft filled the air. Putin was seen glancing upward as the bat-shaped stealth bomber cut across the sky, underscoring Washington’s ability to project overwhelming force at any moment.

The B-2 Spirit is no ordinary aircraft. Built by Northrop Grumman, it remains the most expensive warplane ever constructed, with each unit costing an estimated $2.1 billion.

Designed in the late 1980s at the height of the Cold War, its production was abruptly scaled back after the Soviet Union’s collapse, leaving just 21 in existence today. Despite the limited fleet, its reputation as one of the deadliest and most technologically advanced bombers in history remains unchallenged.

Capable of flying more than 6,000 nautical miles without refueling—and reaching virtually anywhere on the globe with aerial support—the B-2 embodies America’s unmatched global strike capability.

Over the decades, it has played a critical role in combat operations, striking hardened targets in Afghanistan, Libya, and most recently Iran, where U.S. forces in June reportedly used the stealth platform to destroy nuclear facilities.

Friday’s flyover was more than just an air show. It was a calculated display of American air dominance, staged at a moment when Washington and Moscow remain at odds over the war in Ukraine. With both leaders present, the bomber’s appearance served as a reminder of U.S. technological superiority and the lengths it can go to defend its strategic interests.

As Trump and Putin exchanged words under the shadow of the world’s most advanced bomber, the message was clear: in diplomacy as in warfare, power often speaks loudest when written across the skies.
