Tensions are running high in Serbia as protests and riots grip parts of the country, with President Aleksandar Vučić accusing Western nations of backing what he described as a “color revolution.”

The unrest intensified after videos began circulating online showing rioters storming and briefly taking control of the Serbian Progressive Party headquarters in Novi Sad. The images, widely shared on social media, have fueled debate over the scale and nature of the demonstrations.

Vučić, a long-time critic of Western influence in Balkan affairs, claimed that foreign-backed groups are attempting to destabilize the country through orchestrated unrest. His remarks have deepened political divisions, with opposition groups insisting the protests are driven by domestic grievances rather than external interference.

The situation in Novi Sad marks one of the most dramatic escalations in recent political tensions, underscoring the fragile balance between Serbia’s internal politics and its foreign relations. Authorities have increased security around government and party buildings, while political observers warn that the country could be heading into a prolonged period of instability.
