LONDON, UK — Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has taken on a surprise new role alongside his duties at the Emirates, joining sportswear giant Under Armour as their Global Ambassador and Director of Performance.
The 43-year-old Spaniard will work closely with the brand to guide product development, identify talent, and provide leadership insight. Under Armour said Arteta would bring “elite leadership, tactical expertise, and a relentless drive for performance” to their global vision.
For Arteta, the partnership is about more than just branding — it’s about shaping the next generation of football talent. “The collaboration with Under Armour is the perfect opportunity for me to work with a partner committed to making young athletes better,” he said.

“I’m passionate about providing a platform for the next generation, and we share the same mentality of always striving for more. Our values in pursuing greatness are closely aligned, and together, I’m confident we’re going to achieve great things in football.”
The announcement comes just days before Arsenal kick off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a blockbuster clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. After finishing second in the last three seasons, Arteta’s side is aiming to finally lift the league trophy.

Arsenal have invested heavily this summer, spending £208 million to strengthen the squad. The Gunners secured the £64 million signing of highly-rated striker Viktor Gyökeres, alongside Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Nørgaard, and Cristhian Mosquera.
With Arteta’s dual focus on success at Arsenal and his new global role at Under Armour, the coming season promises to be one of the most pivotal in his career — both on and off the pitch.
