Iran has made it clear that it will communicate directly with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding its nuclear program, dismissing any mediation through third parties, including Egypt.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani stated on Monday that Tehran does not rely on intermediaries when dealing with the UN nuclear watchdog. He also reiterated Iran’s deep mistrust of the United States, accusing Washington of playing a role in what he described as a “Zionist attack” during previous negotiations.

“We have zero trust in the US, especially after its role in the Zionist attack during the talks,” Kanaani said, underscoring Tehran’s hardened stance amid stalled diplomatic efforts over its nuclear activities.
The comments come as tensions remain high over Iran’s nuclear program, with Western nations urging greater transparency and cooperation with the IAEA. Kanaani’s remarks signal that Tehran is unlikely to accept indirect negotiations or external mediation, a position that could further complicate ongoing efforts to revive diplomatic engagement.
