President Donald Trump visited Texas on Friday to assess the damage and recovery efforts following catastrophic flash floods that claimed the lives of at least 120 people, including dozens of children, in the state’s Hill Country region. The visit comes one week after the disaster struck, leaving widespread devastation in its wake.
Trump toured Kerr County, one of the hardest-hit areas, before participating in a roundtable discussion with state and federal officials. Speaking to reporters and local leaders, the president expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and praised the coordinated emergency response.

“I want to commend Governor Greg Abbott and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem,” Trump said. “They did an incredible job. The response was rapid, well-organized, and focused on saving lives.”

The deadly floods, fueled by days of relentless rainfall, overwhelmed rivers and swept through residential areas with little warning. Entire neighborhoods were submerged, vehicles overturned, and infrastructure damaged. Rescue teams carried out hundreds of emergency operations, with local and federal agencies working around the clock.

President Trump emphasized the federal government’s continued support in the aftermath of the tragedy, pledging assistance for recovery and rebuilding efforts. He also highlighted the importance of improving flood preparedness and early-warning systems, saying, “We’re going to make sure Texas has what it needs — not just now, but to prevent future tragedies.”
