A confrontation erupted in the southern Lebanese town of Aaitit, where Hezbollah affiliates and family members reportedly clashed with peacekeepers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The incident adds to the mounting tension in the region amid ongoing instability near the Israeli-Lebanese border.
According to verified local reports, the altercation began when a UNIFIL patrol was confronted by individuals linked to Hezbollah during a routine operation in the area. The situation quickly escalated, leading to a standoff marked by physical altercations and heated exchanges.

No injuries have been officially confirmed, but the clash reflects growing unease between UN peacekeeping forces and communities closely aligned with Hezbollah.

UNIFIL, which has been deployed in southern Lebanon since 1978, is tasked with maintaining peace and stability along the Blue Line—the de facto border between Lebanon and Israel.

Hezbollah has often criticized UNIFIL’s movements and mandate, accusing the force of overstepping its role or operating without coordination. Tensions have been further heightened by the current regional climate, with frequent Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon and increased Hezbollah activity along the border.

UNIFIL has called for calm and urged all parties to respect its mission and adhere to UN Security Council resolutions. Lebanese authorities have not yet issued an official statement, but local sources say discussions are underway to de-escalate the situation and prevent further confrontations.
