The Castilla y León emergency services confirmed receiving several distress calls about the incident, which happened near the town of Cernadilla. Their official statement noted that the car was engulfed in flames upon arrival, and multiple emergency units—including traffic police, firefighters, and medical teams—were dispatched to the scene.
Jota’s death comes just two weeks after he married his longtime partner and childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso. The couple, who share three young children, had recently celebrated their wedding in an intimate ceremony, with Jota describing himself as “the luckiest man in the world” in a heartfelt interview published just yesterday.
Born in Porto, Portugal, Diogo Jota rose through the football ranks to become one of Europe’s most exciting forwards. His career included standout performances with FC Porto, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and most notably Liverpool FC, where he was beloved for his tenacity, speed, and goal-scoring flair. He was also a key figure for the Portuguese national team, proudly representing his country on the global stage.
