President Donald Trump announced Sunday that a group of wealthy investors is prepared to purchase TikTok, the popular video-sharing app that faces an uncertain future in the United States due to its Chinese ownership.

Speaking during an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Trump stated, “We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way. Very wealthy people. It’s a group of wealthy people.” While he did not disclose any names, the president added that he expects to reveal the identities of the buyers within the next two weeks.

The news comes as TikTok, owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance, faces mounting pressure from U.S. regulators over national security concerns.

Trump emphasized that any sale would likely require the green light from the Chinese government. “I think President Xi will probably do it,” he said, referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping, while noting that China’s approval might be necessary to finalize the deal.

The president’s remarks signal renewed momentum behind efforts to shift TikTok’s ownership to U.S.-based entities or investors, potentially easing tensions between Washington and Beijing while safeguarding American user data.

The announcement adds a new layer of intrigue to the ongoing TikTok saga, which has seen legal challenges, executive orders, and bipartisan calls in Congress to restrict the app unless it severs its Chinese ties.
