U.S. President Donald Trump revealed details of the recent American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, claiming that advanced bunker-buster bombs tore through one of Iran’s most fortified sites “like butter.”

The surprise attack, conducted on June 22, targeted three major nuclear locations — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — and, according to Trump, dealt a devastating blow to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

“They were trying to seal up the entrance where the bomb would most likely go in… and it went through like it was absolute butter,” Trump told Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

The president described the Fordow facility — long considered Iran’s most secure and secretive site, buried deep under a mountain — as having been reduced to “just thousands of tons of rock.” The U.S. strikes reportedly employed cutting-edge GBU-57 bunker buster bombs and Tomahawk cruise missiles, weapons designed for deep penetration and precision.

Trump claimed the operation left Iran’s nuclear program “obliterated,” insisting that Iran had not moved its stockpile of highly enriched uranium prior to the attack — a claim that contradicts reports from Israeli officials, who told The New York Times that material had been relocated ahead of the strike.

“I think first it was very hard to do. It’s very dangerous to do. It’s very heavy,” Trump added, describing the operation as highly complex and requiring utmost secrecy. “They didn’t know we were coming until just then,” he said, underscoring the surprise nature of the mission.

The airstrikes followed what the U.S. says was an ultimatum delivered to Tehran: cease all uranium enrichment or face military consequences. After Iran allegedly failed to comply, the strikes were launched in coordination with heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, who have exchanged military strikes since June 13.

While Trump declared the mission a historic success, asserting that Iran’s nuclear capabilities have been “set back by decades,” international observers remain cautious. Rafael Grossi, head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog, suggested Iran could be capable of restarting enriched uranium production within months — a sign that the long-term impact of the operation may be limited.

In the same Fox News interview, Trump also touched on trade and technology issues, announcing that U.S. trade talks with Canada would be halted until certain tariffs are removed. He further confirmed that a group of wealthy American investors is preparing to acquire TikTok, the China-linked social media app facing a U.S. ban, with more details expected within two weeks.
