U.S. President Donald Trump has once again weighed in on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, reigniting debate over the country’s controversial enrichment program.
Speaking during a recent public appearance, Trump recalled his past negotiations with Iranian officials, claiming they insisted on their right to enrich uranium — a central issue in the long-standing nuclear standoff between Tehran and the West.
“They said, ‘We want enrichment,’” Trump told the audience, emphasizing that Iran had made uranium enrichment a non-negotiable part of its demands. The comment comes amid renewed tensions in the Middle East and growing international concerns over the pace and transparency of Iran’s nuclear activities.

Trump, who famously withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal during his first term, has consistently argued that the agreement was flawed and too lenient. He now points to Iran’s current posture as proof that tougher measures were — and still are — necessary to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons capability.
