The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that the Israeli Air Force carried out a preemptive strike in southern Lebanon after detecting attempts by Hezbollah to reconstruct an underground military facility previously destroyed in an earlier Israeli operation.
According to the IDF, intelligence revealed that Hezbollah operatives had begun restoring the subterranean base—believed to be used for storing weapons and coordinating cross-border operations—despite prior warnings and ongoing tensions along the Israel–Lebanon frontier.

“In response to Hezbollah’s renewed efforts to reestablish a military foothold near the northern border, the Israeli Air Force conducted a targeted preemptive strike,” an IDF statement said. “We will not allow the buildup of terrorist infrastructure that threatens Israeli civilians.”

The airstrike is part of an increasingly volatile pattern of hostilities between the IDF and Hezbollah in recent weeks, with both sides trading fire amid fears of a wider escalation.
