French President Emmanuel Macron has voiced strong concerns over the recent U.S. airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, saying the military action has no foundation under international law.
Speaking during an official visit to Oslo, Macron emphasized the need for restraint and warned that unilateral military operations could further destabilize an already volatile region.
“There is no legal framework that justifies the U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure,” Macron stated, calling for renewed diplomatic efforts instead of military escalation. His remarks come amid rising tensions following a series of tit-for-tat attacks between Iran, Israel, and the United States, with fears growing that the conflict could spiral into a broader regional war.

France, a key member of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, has consistently advocated for multilateral dialogue and a return to negotiated solutions. Macron reiterated that position, urging all parties to abide by international law and prioritize diplomacy over confrontation.
The U.S. strikes, which reportedly targeted multiple nuclear sites across Iran, were launched over the weekend and have drawn mixed reactions from world leaders. Washington has not publicly offered legal justification for the operation, raising concerns among European allies about the precedent such actions could set.
