President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed that his planned visit to Yelewata, a border town in Benue State, was called off due to heavy rainfall and deteriorating road conditions.
Speaking to reporters, the president explained, “I aborted my visit to Yelewata because of the rain and bad roads.” His visit was expected to address the recent violent attacks in the area and show federal support for affected communities.
The cancellation has stirred mixed reactions, with some expressing disappointment given the severity of recent events in the region. However, the presidency assured that Tinubu remains committed to supporting victims and ensuring justice and security prevail in Benue and beyond.
Yelewata has recently been in the news following deadly attacks allegedly carried out by armed assailants, prompting calls for swift government intervention and stronger security presence in the region.
