In a bold and unprecedented move, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that Israel has initiated a large-scale military campaign against Iran, dubbed Operation Rising Lion.

The operation, according to Netanyahu, is a direct response to what he described as Tehran’s alarming progress toward weaponizing enriched uranium — a development he warned poses a threat to Israel’s very survival.

Addressing the nation and the international community, Netanyahu stated that the operation is a “targeted campaign to roll back the Iranian threat”, emphasizing that Iran’s nuclear ambitions have reached a critical point.

He specifically pointed to recent intelligence indicating that Iran had taken definitive steps to convert its enriched uranium stockpile into nuclear weapons capability.

As part of this military initiative, Israeli forces have reportedly struck Iran’s main nuclear enrichment and weaponization facilities, as well as key scientific figures involved in the country’s nuclear program. Among the reported targets is Iran’s leading nuclear scientist, whose role in advancing Tehran’s nuclear agenda has long made him a subject of concern in Israeli intelligence circles.

“This operation will continue for as many days as it takes,” Netanyahu said firmly, signaling that Israel is prepared for a prolonged campaign if necessary. The prime minister’s message carried a tone of urgency and resolve, underlining the high stakes involved and Israel’s unwillingness to tolerate what it sees as an existential threat.

Israel’s bold military posture comes after years of escalating tensions with Iran, marked by proxy clashes, cyber warfare, and shadow diplomacy. Operation Rising Lion now signals a shift from covert resistance to overt confrontation, placing the Israel-Iran conflict squarely in the global spotlight.
