Israel has announced the temporary closure of all its embassies and diplomatic missions around the world, citing heightened security concerns.
The move was confirmed in official statements posted on multiple Israeli embassy websites on Friday, accompanied by a warning for Israeli citizens abroad to remain alert and avoid displaying Jewish or Israeli symbols in public.

The closures come amid fears of retaliation following Operation Rising Lion, Israel’s sweeping offensive targeting Iranian nuclear infrastructure and military leadership. As a precautionary measure, consular services have been suspended until further notice, with no clear timeline provided for when diplomatic operations will resume.

“In light of recent developments, Israeli missions around the world will be closed and consular services will not be provided,” the statement read. The message urged Israeli nationals overseas to exercise extreme caution and cooperate with local authorities if they encounter any threats or signs of hostility.

At the Israeli embassy in Berlin, a staff member who answered the phone declined to give further information, and Israel’s Foreign Ministry has yet to issue a comprehensive public response regarding the scope and duration of the shutdown.

In addition to the embassy closures, Israeli citizens abroad are being asked to fill out a location update form, a measure that was previously implemented after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. The form allows the Foreign Ministry to track and assist nationals in the event of emergencies, coordinate reservist returns, and organize evacuation flights if needed.

This sweeping diplomatic lockdown highlights the deepening global repercussions of the Israel-Iran confrontation. With embassies closed and consular services suspended, thousands of Israelis abroad now face limited access to direct government assistance during a time of heightened global risk.
As tensions continue to rise, the Israeli government is taking no chances, reinforcing security protocols both at home and abroad. Meanwhile, the international community is watching closely, urging calm and caution as the situation teeters on the edge of broader regional escalation.
