The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the discovery and destruction of another underground tunnel in southern Gaza, marking the latest effort in their ongoing campaign to dismantle Hamas’ extensive tunnel network.

According to military sources, the newly uncovered tunnel was located near the Rafah area and is believed to have been used for smuggling weapons and coordinating militant activities. The IDF carried out a targeted demolition operation, ensuring the passage was rendered inoperable.

This latest tunnel find underscores Israel’s continued focus on eliminating subterranean threats that have long served as strategic assets for Hamas. These tunnels often stretch across borders or run deep beneath urban infrastructure, posing significant challenges for detection and destruction.

The IDF stated that the tunnel posed an “immediate security threat” and that its removal was critical for protecting Israeli forces and civilians. Military engineers utilized advanced ground-penetrating technology to identify the tunnel, which was then neutralized using controlled explosives.

This operation comes amid heightened military activity in Gaza as tensions persist. Israel maintains that dismantling Hamas’ underground infrastructure is key to neutralizing the group’s operational capabilities.
