Barcelona have officially tied down their teenage sensation Lamine Yamal with a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2031.
The 17-year-old winger, widely considered one of world football’s brightest young talents, enjoyed a remarkable season that helped Barcelona reclaim domestic dominance with a La Liga title, Copa del Rey victory, and the Spanish Super Cup.
The Catalan club confirmed the contract renewal in a statement on Tuesday, describing the deal as a “demonstration of the solidity of Barça’s project.” Yamal’s meteoric rise began with his debut on April 29, 2023, when he made history by stepping onto the pitch at just 15 years old under then-coach Xavi Hernandez.

Now a cornerstone of Barcelona’s first team, Yamal has become a fan favorite and a symbol of La Masia’s enduring legacy. The winger, known for his blistering pace, exceptional dribbling, and creativity on the right flank, produced a phenomenal 2024–25 campaign: 18 goals and 25 assists across 55 appearances in all competitions.

His impact wasn’t limited to the club stage. Yamal played a pivotal role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, showcasing maturity well beyond his years on the international stage. His performances this season have placed him among the elite, with many tipping him as a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or.

Reports from Spanish media suggest Yamal’s new deal includes substantial bonuses for individual achievements—including winning the Ballon d’Or—and elevates him to one of the highest earners at the club.

This new contract follows recent renewals from teammate Raphinha and head coach Hansi Flick, signaling Barcelona’s intent to build around a solid, ambitious core.
Under Flick’s guidance, Yamal has thrived. The German coach’s attacking philosophy has allowed the young winger to express himself freely while adding greater consistency to his game.

Yamal was instrumental in Barcelona’s impressive Champions League run, delivering standout performances in both legs of the semi-final against Inter Milan, even though the team narrowly missed out with a 7-6 aggregate loss.
Despite the setback, Yamal remained optimistic, promising fans that European silverware is only a matter of time. “I will keep my promise and I will bring the Champions League trophy to Barcelona. We will not stop until we get it,” he vowed after the match.
With over 100 senior appearances already under his belt and still just 17—he turns 18 in July—Yamal represents not just the future of Barcelona, but potentially the future of football itself.
