American R&B artist Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court in connection with a serious assault charge, allowing him to proceed with his much-anticipated world tour next month. The Southwark Crown Court made the decision on Wednesday, following Brown’s agreement to post a substantial £5 million (approximately $6.7 million) security bond.

The 36-year-old singer faces a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors have described as an “unprovoked attack” on music producer Abraham Diaw. The incident allegedly occurred in a London nightclub in 2023, where Brown is accused of striking Diaw with a tequila bottle. So far, Brown has not entered a plea regarding the charge.

Although the star was not present during the court proceedings, Judge Tony Baumgartner approved the bail on strict conditions. Brown is required to pay an initial £4 million, with an additional £1 million to be paid within seven days. He must also surrender his passport, except when traveling for performances associated with his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour.

The Grammy-winning performer—known for chart-topping hits like “Run It,” “Loyal,” and “Under the Influence”—was arrested last week at a Manchester hotel. It was his first return to the UK since the alleged nightclub incident.

A previous bail request had been denied on Friday, but Wednesday’s decision clears the way for the artist to begin his European tour, which is scheduled to start on June 8 in the Netherlands.

Brown’s next court appearance is set for June 20 at Southwark Crown Court. As legal proceedings continue, the global spotlight remains on both his music career and the unfolding court case.
