In a disturbing escalation, a Pakistani drone strike targeted a civilian area in Punjab’s Ferozepur on Friday night, leaving three members of a local family seriously injured. The attack, which struck a residential home, sparked a fire that inflicted severe burn injuries on the victims. One of them, Lakhwinder Singh, is reportedly in critical condition.
According to reports from ANI, Ferozepur police officer Bhupinder Singh Sidhu confirmed the injuries and stated that most of the drones had been successfully neutralised by the Indian Army. However, the one that managed to breach the defense perimeter caused significant damage.

The victims — Lakhwinder Singh, his wife, and his brother Monu Singh — were rushed to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment. PTI sources indicate that Lakhwinder’s condition remains critical, while his wife and brother are also being treated for serious burn injuries.

This incident underscores growing concerns over the increasing use of drones for cross-border attacks and the safety of civilians living in border regions. Security forces remain on high alert, and further investigations are underway to assess the full extent of the damage and prevent future incursions.
The attack has reignited calls for stronger counter-drone measures and raised fresh alarms over the targeting of civilians in border zones.
