Despite being heavily linked with summer moves to European giants Arsenal and Barcelona, Spain international Nico Williams remains fully committed to his current club, Athletic Club.

The 22-year-old winger, who turned down interest from both sides last summer to continue with his boyhood club, is focused on guiding the Basque outfit to Europa League glory this season.

Speaking to Sport, Williams made it clear where his priorities lie: “The dream is to lift the champion’s trophy at San Mamés. I have the opportunity to make history at this club. The dream never ends.”

“I’m 100% focused on tomorrow, on reaching the final and winning it. I don’t want to look any further. I’m super happy here… I’ve always wanted to feel important at this club. This is a 10/10 season for me.”

Athletic Club fans will be pleased to hear such strong words of commitment, especially as speculation continues to swirl around his future. Williams has a reported release clause of €58 million (£48m/$60m), making him an attractive and potentially affordable target for top European clubs.

However, that clause could be altered if the winger agrees to a new deal with Athletic, something that remains on the table.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Williams could become one of the most talked-about names. Yet, for now, his eyes are firmly on the task at hand — securing a place in the Europa League final. His team faces Manchester United on Thursday in the first leg of the semi-final, a critical step in his dream of lifting a European trophy at the iconic Estadio de San Mamés.
