In one of the largest drone offensives in recent months, Russia launched 149 drones at Ukraine overnight, according to the Ukrainian Air Force on Sunday. The attack led to both human and agricultural losses, intensifying the already dire situation across the war-torn country.

Serhiy Lysak, the governor of Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, confirmed that the city of Pavlohrad was among the areas hit. Tragically, a man was killed in the strikes, and a 14-year-old girl sustained injuries.

The damage extended beyond human casualties — a drone strike also devastated local agriculture, killing around 500 heads of cattle when a drone hit a livestock facility.

Ukraine’s air defense and electronic warfare systems managed to significantly mitigate the damage. The Air Force reported that 57 of the 149 drones were shot down, while another 67 drones vanished from radar, most likely neutralized by electronic jamming technologies before reaching their intended targets.

Despite these defensive efforts, the attack underscores the relentless pressure Ukraine faces daily, not just on its military infrastructure but also on its civilian population and economy.

As drone warfare continues to evolve, Ukraine’s ability to defend against such large-scale assaults remains critical — both for protecting its people and maintaining vital industries like agriculture.
