After a brief but concerning absence, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is back at the club’s training centre, having recovered from a bout of pneumonia that saw him hospitalized earlier this month.
The 47-year-old boss was sidelined during a crucial stretch of the Premier League season, missing matches against Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa.

In a statement on Thursday, Newcastle United confirmed Howe’s return, expressing both relief and gratitude. “Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery. We thank supporters for their warm wishes,” the club said.

While Howe was away, assistant manager Jason Tindall stepped up to lead the team. Under his guidance, the Magpies claimed convincing victories over both Manchester United and Crystal Palace, showcasing the squad’s resilience. However, a heavy defeat to Aston Villa served as a reminder of the challenges still ahead.

Currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table, Newcastle remains firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification. With the top five teams set to secure spots in next season’s tournament, every point is crucial in the race for European football.

The team’s recent League Cup triumph added a silver lining to an already eventful season, and with Howe back at the helm, Newcastle fans will be hopeful that their club can rediscover its momentum heading into the final stretch.

Next up, the Magpies host relegation-threatened Ipswich Town on Saturday — a fixture that offers a golden opportunity to solidify their top-five standing.
Meanwhile, at the top of the table, Liverpool appears to be closing in on the title, while Arsenal is favored to finish second. Just four points separate third-placed Manchester City from seventh-placed Aston Villa, adding even more intensity to what’s shaping up to be a thrilling finish to the season.
