Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has unveiled his own film village in Ekiti State, marking a major milestone in his career and a significant boost for film production in the state.

The newly established Lateef Adedimeji Film Village was recently commissioned in Ekiti State, with Governor Biodun Oyebanji in attendance. The facility is designed to serve as a dedicated production hub for Adedimeji’s latest historical project, Ekiti Parapo, an epic film that explores the rich culture and history of the Ekiti people.

Adedimeji and his wife, fellow Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe, have already begun utilizing the film village as preparations intensify for the upcoming epic movie, also known as Ekiti Parapo War or the Kiriji War. The film is set to dramatize the historic Ekiti–Parapo War, a 16-year civil conflict among Yoruba sub-ethnic kingdoms in the late 19th century.

The war, officially referred to as the Ekiti–Parapo War, involved the Western Yoruba groups, mainly Ibadan and Oyo-speaking communities, on one side, and the Eastern Yoruba groups, including the Ekiti, Ijesha, Ijebu, Yagba, Igbomina, and others, on the other. The conflict remains one of the most significant historical events in Yoruba history.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Oyebanji commended filmmakers for their role in preserving and promoting Ekiti’s cultural heritage through storytelling. He, however, clarified that the Ekiti State Government is not funding the project, noting that the initiative is entirely privately driven.

The unveiling of the film village has been widely praised as a bold step toward strengthening Nollywood’s historical storytelling and positioning Ekiti State as a destination for film production.
